For superior sound, these headphones offer 13.5m driver units and a gold-plated mini plug. The fit is superb, too, with your choice of three earbud sizes. And a convenient carrying case helps you avoid tangled cords.

the MDR-EX85SL has been designated as a budget version of the MDR-EX90SL by Sony. Equipped with the same driver unit as the MDR-EX90SL. To reflect the reduction in price, some different parts were used for the MDR-EX85SL to reduce its production cost relative to the MDR-EX90SL. In addition, the exclusive quality and control system instituted for the MDR-EX90SL will be excluded as well. The MDR-EX85SL comes with the short style cord with 3.5mm straight plug and an extension cord with 3.5mm L-shaped plug. It also comes with a small cloth pouch and a plastic earpiece holder. Personally we like this better than the leather/plastic case that came with my EX90s.
